Who We Are

About Our Church

A Church With An Open Door And A Burning Message.

Our Mission

  • To evangelise to the whole universe.
  • To present the Gospel in all its purity, power and fullness.
  • To promulgate the Good News of Salvation through modern means of conveyance.
  • To spread the Good News through Christian literature which we print in different languages and dialects and mailed in large quantities — postage prepaid and subscription free — to points all around the globe, thereby reaching people of different races, colours and creeds.

Our Vision

  • To be a leading religious movement that maintains and teaches all doctrines taught by Jesus Christ and His Apostles of the early church, and to propagate the Gospel in its fullness to the whole world.

Overview

  • Founded in 1955, the Apostolic Faith Mission of Africa — with Headquarters in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe — has continuously grown and established branch churches throughout the whole universe.

Our History

From the fires of revival to the streets of Bulawayo — a story of faith, faithfulness, and growth.

1955 — Founded

The Church is Established in Bulawayo

The Apostolic Faith Mission of Africa — Bulawayo assembly was founded in 1955, rooted in the Pentecostal tradition that traces back to the great outpouring of the Holy Spirit in South Africa. Rev MJK Sengwayo was appointed as the first Overseer, laying a firm foundation of faith, prayer, and the full gospel that would carry the church for generations.

1982 – 2008 — Rev P.M. Sibanda

A Season of Growth & Faithfulness

Reverend P.M. Sibanda served faithfully as Overseer for 26 years, shepherding the congregation through a period of steady growth. Under his leadership the church deepened its roots in Lobengula Extension and strengthened its ministries of worship, discipleship, and outreach to the surrounding community.

2008 – 2016 — Rev T. Tshuma

Continuing the Vision

Reverend T. Tshuma took on the mantle of Overseer in 2008, continuing to build on the strong foundation already laid. His tenure saw the church press forward in prayer, evangelism, and the nurturing of its vibrant ministries — including the Dorcas Ministry, Christian Youth Crusaders, and the Gospel Choirs.

2016 – Present — Rev R. Zulu

Anointed for This Generation

In 2016 Reverend R. Zulu was anointed as Overseer, carrying the church into a new era of revival and transformation. His leadership has been marked by a burning passion for souls, a commitment to the preaching of the full gospel, and the mobilisation of the whole church to reach Zimbabwe and the nations.

2026 — Mother Of All Revivals

A Wave of the Holy Spirit

In May 2026, AFMA hosted the Mother Of All Revivals — a landmark four-day event that drew thousands of worshippers from across Zimbabwe, South Africa, and beyond. Healings, salvations, and mighty works of God were recorded, confirming that the same fire that fell in 1908 is still burning today.
